WordPressに移行してからもときどき書いてますが，1996年には既にRetrospectを使っていました<\/a>．<\/p>\n

Upgrade版も個人で買うには結構高いので，メジャーバージョンの１〜２個飛ばしとかいう感じで買っていました．だいたいmacOSの大幅な変更があったような場合不具合でしかたなくupgradeを買うといった感じです．<\/p>\n

Retrospectは，MacOS 9の時代はそれなりにいいソフトだと思っていましたが，とにかく遅い．特にMacOS Xになってからは，話にならないくらい遅くなりました．<\/p>\n

Upgrade時のうたい文句は，「旧バージョンより何十パーセント速い」というのですが，元が遅いんで，速さを実感したことはありません．毎回期待して裏切られています1<\/a><\/sup>個人の感想です．<\/span>．<\/p>\n

バックアップ時の遅さは，まあしょうがないんですが，復帰が何しろ遅くて，一つのファイルの昔の版を探し出して復旧させるというのは一日仕事になります2<\/a><\/sup>個人の感想です．<\/span>．<\/p>\n

今ではメインバックアップツールはTime Machineとしていますが，多重バックアップの重要性は肌身で感じてますので，Retrospectを第２のバックアップとして使い続けてきました．<\/p>\n

現在は，Version 12.5を使っていますが，スケジュールで立ち上がった場合は必ずバックアップに失敗する（手動の場合はOK），家族用のMac miniにでは手動で起動しても3回に2回は，SSDを認識できず失敗するという状況です．<\/p>\n

私が自宅で管理している，自分用のWSと家族用のMac（どちらもMac mini）は，まだHigh Sierraにはupgradeしていませんが，High Sierraではファイルシステムが変更になるので，Retrospectを使い続けるにはここで，有料upgradeせざるを得ないので，使用停止を決断しました．<\/p>\n

Retrospectのサイト<\/a>には，ユーザーからのレビューが流れていますが，私の見解とは大きく異なります^^; （個人の感想です）．<\/p>\n

Macではこの他．大幅なupgrade等の時，直前にディスクを丸々CarbonCopyClonerで複製しています．これをやっておくと，OSのupgradeに失敗したり，その他の理由で本体のSSDに新OSをクリーンインストールする場合，Time MachineのHDDやTime Capsuleからよりも，このバックアップディスクから移行した方が速く済みます．<\/p>\n

Retrospectの数少ないアドバンテージとして，Linuxもクライアントとしてバックアップできるのですが，x86かAMD64しかかサポートしてなく，しかも，UTF-8のファイル名を扱えないので，バックアップしたところで，復旧用には使えたためしがありませんし，システム全部のリバートなんか恐ろしくてできません^^;<\/p>\n

Slackware ARMで動いている現在のサーバーは，rsyncによる差分バックアップをかけています．初回のバックアップはさすがに一晩かかりますが，2回目以降は15分くらいで済みます．<\/p>\n

Rsyncによる差分バックアップは，なんてったって復旧が楽ちんです．特殊なソフトを使わず，MacでいうFinderでバックアップをした日時に対応したディレクトリーに行くと，ファイルツリーが丸々存在しますから，必要なものをコピーするだけですし，その時点にシステムを丸々リバートすることも可能です（この作業は楽々とは行きませんが^^; ）<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
