現在使用中のWi-Fiルーターである，AirMacの5GHzは復活<\/a>しましたが，前の記事で書いたように既に6年半使用していて，いつ永久に復活不能になっても不思議でないので，買い換える準備をしておくことにしました．<\/p>\n\n\n\n

中継器の失敗<\/a>もあったので，次期ルーターは，Mesh Wi-Fiというものにすることにします．趣味関係のお友だちから具合が良いと教えていただいた（その方のBLOG<\/a>）TP-Link社のDECOシリーズにしようと思います．<\/p>\n\n\n\n

たぶん，2台で十分と思います．1台目は元々設置してあった場所にして，2台目は今回電波が届きにくい問題が発生した部屋かその近くに設置したいです．<\/p>\n\n\n\n

問題は，その辺りに有線LANを引いていないことです．問題の部屋の隣の和室（通称「和室」）には，大昔に自分で1本引いたのでそれが使えるか調べることにしました．<\/p>\n\n\n\n

その前に，ルーターを一番スマートに設置できる場所に，ケーブルを引き直せるか調べてみました．<\/p>\n\n\n\n

左側のカバープレート1<\/a><\/sup>メクラ板．<\/span>とTVアンテナのコネクターのパネルを外して中をのぞいてみましたが，下に抜けられそうになく，にっちもさっちもいきません．<\/p>\n\n\n\n

部屋の反対側には，かつて自力で増設した，RJ-45のコネクターがあります．大昔（たぶん20年くらい前）にアメリカのNetwork Warehouseから通販で買ったものです（次の写真の上段の物．下段は内線電話用のRJ-11）．調べたら活きています．ただし，使用したケーブルのせいで，100Mbpsしか通りません．<\/p>\n\n\n\n

このコネクターは，もともと接点の金属が良いものではないし，長らく使用していなかったので，予防措置として先日購入したものと交換しました．<\/p>\n\n\n\n
