ベンチャーズは，私が生まれた頃から，今日に至るまで活動を続けているようです．この “Walk, Don’t Run” がヒットしたのは1960年ということで，私が物心着く前ですが，その当時かその後にか親が買ったレコードが家にあったので，知ってました．<\/p>\n\n\n\n
で，小学生のころからだと思うのですが，この曲の邦題が，「急がば回れ」となっていることに違和感を感じていました（今日まで）．<\/p>\n\n\n\n
まあ，たしかに，気がせいているときこそ，落ち着いて，安全な遠回りをした方が良いということは，走らずに慎重に歩いた方がいいということに通じます．しかし，意訳が過ぎますよね．<\/p>\n\n\n\n
「急がば回れ」の起源は，琵琶湖を船で渡る近道をとるよりも，遠回りになる陸路を歩くかほうが安全だと言うことらしいですし．<\/p>\n\n\n\n
いまはとっさに具体例を挙げられませんが，ことわざの翻訳は，かなり直訳語調のものから，この例のように元とは精神しか通じないような意訳がなされたものまでいろいろあります．<\/p>\n\n\n\n
